The Speed Skating team of the University of Cundinamarca brought great honor to the Institution during its participation in the 14th Departmental Festival of Training Schools for Racing Skating, held on May 24, 2026, in Buga, Valle del Cauca.

More than 970 athletes from different regions of the country participated in the national competition, becoming a high-level competitive arena for young talents in Colombian skating.

UCundinamarca was represented by three athletes in the 5 and 6-year-old categories, who achieved significant results and reached the podium in the various events held during the sports day.

Featured results:

  • Gabriela Contreras Montes: 2 gold medals.
  • Isabella Sáenz Riaño: 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal.
  • Nicol Valeria Sierra Piñeros: 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.

Jefferson David Gómez Díaz, coach of the team, highlighted the effort, discipline, and commitment of the female athletes during the competition.

“Two events were held in which our female skaters managed to reach the podium, demonstrating the talent and preparation they are strengthening day by day,” the coach stated.

He also highlighted the support of the parents and the importance of participating in competitions outside the department to strengthen the students' sports experience.

“We want to provide the best experiences for our athletes. Competing in other venues across the country, where the level is high and demanding, allows us to grow as a community and demonstrate the quality of our athletes and coaches, he added.

With these results, the University of Cundinamarca continues to promote formative sports and strengthen spaces that drive talent, discipline, and institutional pride.
