Talent, discipline, and passion for sports once again brought honor to the institution. The UCundinamarca Speed Skating Club achieved significant results in two national competitions held in Cundinamarca and Tolima, solidifying its position as one of the most outstanding sports programs in the region.

The first participation took place in the final of the Ruta Dorada 2026 Schools Festival, held on May 17 and 18 in the municipality of Madrid, Cundinamarca. There, eight athletes represented the CAD Academic Sports Center in the Junior and Transition categories, Non-Advanced Professional Skating, achieving an outstanding performance.

Mabel Chala Castillo, the team's coach, highlighted the effort and dedication of the athletes, who won a total of 15 medals: five gold, five silver, and five bronze. These results allowed the team to achieve third place among clubs, a recognition that reflects the constant work of the skaters, coaches, and families. “The commitment of our athletes in each event was admirable. This result is a product of their discipline, dedication, and the ongoing support of their parents, who are fundamental to the athletic development of our young people,” the coach stated.

The outstanding performance continued during the Second Stop of the Star X3 Cup, held on June 7 and 8 in Melgar, Tolima, where the UCundinamarca Club participated in the semi-professional and professional skating categories.

In this competition, the team consisted of 32 skaters who faced more than 400 athletes from different regions of the country. The team won one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, earning valuable points and competitive experience on a high-level stage.

David Gómez Díaz, the club's coach, highlighted the high level of athleticism demonstrated by the participants and the growth of the speed skating training program. “Participating in national events allows us to measure our competitive level, strengthen skills, and continue developing our athletes in increasingly demanding environments. The results obtained reflect the serious work that has been carried out at the club,” he stated.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the parents, who constantly accompany and motivate the athletes in every competition, contributing to the strengthening of the university sports community.

These achievements demonstrate how sport becomes a transformative experience that promotes values such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance and leadership, fundamental elements for the development of athletes.
