Getting answers to questions about the RUT (Taxpayer Identification Number), understanding tax responsibilities, or learning how to use the digital services of the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN) is now easier for the community of Fusagasugá. Through the Fiscal Support Centers (NAF), the University of Cundinamarca and the DIAN provide free tax guidance to citizens of the region.
This strategy, developed in partnership with higher education institutions, seeks to bring tax services closer to citizens through guidance and support spaces. The Public Accounting program, Fusagasugá campus, actively participates in this initiative as part of its commitment to the needs of the territory.
According to Jaimili Jairo Penagos Rodríguez, leader of the agreement and Knowledge and Learning Manager for Public Accounting, the NAFs (Financial Assistance Centers) allow the community to be guided through various procedures and inquiries, including RUT (Taxpayer Identification Number) registration and updates, electronic signature generation, income tax returns for individuals, tax obligations, and the use of DIAN (National Tax and Customs Directorate) online services. “It’s an opportunity for citizens to receive clear and free guidance, while at the same time allowing our Opportunity Creators to put the knowledge acquired during their training into practice,” Jaimili emphasizes.
The process is supported by DIAN Citizen Service officials, who work together with Opportunity Creators from the last semesters of Public Accounting and Knowledge and Learning Managers. This collaboration allows for close and reliable service, while students strengthen their skills in real-world scenarios.
Free care for the community
Interested individuals can access the service from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, in Block E, room 402 of the University of Cundinamarca, Fusagasugá campus. Service is also offered on Thursdays at the DIAN point located in the Secretariat of Economic Development, in the Pueblito Fusagasugueño.
Beyond resolving procedures and inquiries, the NAFs become a practical learning environment, where Public Accounting students face situations
real, strengthen their professional skills and understand how accounting knowledge can respond to concrete needs of citizens.
The experience also confirms the importance of collaborative work between academia and public entities. The presence of the DIAN (National Tax and Customs Directorate) and the participation of students help build a bridge between university education and community service.
In this way, UCundinamarca continues to take knowledge beyond the classroom and put it at the service of the region. Through MEDIT, this experience represents an education that engages with the realities of the community, generates learning opportunities, and contributes to social transformation through concrete and impactful actions.
