In a strategic meeting between the administrative management of the Chía campus and the Municipal Mayor's Office, the creation of a decade-long framework agreement was discussed to strengthen the relationship between the University of Cundinamarca and the local administration.
According to the administrative director of the Chía campus, Dr. Carlos Trujillo, the agreement, which will be signed by the president of the University of Cundinamarca, Dr. Adriano Muñoz, aims to create specific projects for the benefit of the educational community, with a special emphasis on promoting access to professional education.
One of the central focuses is closing educational gaps in the municipality's public schools. The proposal suggests that tenth and eleventh-grade students have the opportunity to earn academic credits in programs at the University of Cundinamarca through after-school hours. If the youth successfully complete this training and are admitted to any of the academic programs at the Chía extension, they will be able to transfer the credits earned, thus facilitating their transition to higher education.
“This makes a difference, as it promotes equality and equity in access, allowing more young people to see the University of Cundinamarca as a strategic ally in their region,” Trujillo highlighted.
The meeting also opened space to analyze proposals for teacher training and strengthening in the municipality through the University's Graduate Institute. This initiative seeks to offer alternatives that elevate the competencies of the municipality's teachers, consolidating institutional participation in local educational processes.
In this way, the University of Cundinamarca and the Mayor's Office of Chía are advancing in the construction of an alliance that will help promote higher public education and contribute to the social and academic development of the region
