By: Carolina Rojas – Advisory Office of Communications

The News Agency of the University of Cundinamarca, in order to learn about the balance, results and activities of the first academic semester of the Chía extension, interviewed the Administrative Director, Dr. Carlos Augusto Trujillo, who told us about the implementation of the MEDIT, its achievements, challenges and implementation.

UCundinamarca News Agency (ANUC) What is the assessment of the first semester of the Chía Extension?

Carlos Augusto Trujillo: We had a budget execution represented in 40 projects with an approximate investment of 900 million pesos, through which we efficiently implemented passive resources, likewise, we executed close to 60% in operating expenses, in addition to the development of actions in favor of the well-being, health and accessibility for the university community.

ANUC What were the results for the first semester?

Carlos Augusto Trujillo: We must emphasize that this has been a successful first semester, despite significant challenges. Our Action Plan aligns with the commitments of the Rector's Plan and the institution's strategic guidelines. One of these commitments involves the dissemination of impactful, transmodern locality, where we aim to highlight and implement how the university monitors the cultural landscape of the Sabana Centro campus. We showcased this experience through recognitions on International Women's Day, among other initiatives.

We also developed activities within the university community as agents of improvement and transformation. Here, I want to highlight our promotion of a transmodern culture through campaigns that promoted institutional values. We collaborated with the external sector and participated in more than five university fairs in the Sabana Centro region. We also formed an alliance with the company Brinsa and held a support day for its employees and their families, so they could learn about and see the University of Cundinamarca as an ally in accessing higher education.

We make the extension activities visible through newsletters aimed at the community and posts on social media.

It is worth highlighting that, this semester, we had Academic Mobility, as we were visited by students from countries such as Brazil and Mexico from the Business Administration, Systems Engineering and Public Accounting programs.

Added to this are the austerity campaigns, the tree planting day and the strengthening in the environmental field to be a green campus.

ANUC How did the Chía extension implement the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) during the first semester?

Carlos Augusto Trujillo: We began the year with the implementation of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model in all four academic programs. The Business Administration and Systems Engineering programs had already been restructured and were in the process of implementing the model, but starting in the first semester of 2024, the Public Accounting program underwent the restructuring process, meaning that all four programs are now integrated and aligned with the core principles of the MEDIT.

We have seven CAI zones where programs conduct co-creation and capacity-building activities in entrepreneurship, research, 21st-century citizenship, logic, second language learning, and other areas. Each program has access to equipment and software in six computer labs that meet training needs through the use of technological tools.

We also work with the community in the Sabana Centro area, where we develop activities with the Cultural Learning Field Culture of the Soul.

ANUC: What are the challenges for the second semester of the academic year?

Carlos Augusto Trujillo: We will continue working in coordination with the administrative team to achieve both active and passive execution of the 100% budget for operating expenses and investments. We will improve upon the fiscal target achieved in the previous year.

Our challenge is the application and strengthening of MEDIT in the High-Quality Accreditation process. Two of the four programs have been visited by the National Accreditation Council (CNE) and have been deemed suitable for pursuing accreditation.
