Boosting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cundinamarca

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

As part of the Colombia Digital Power program, a hybrid training session was held for stakeholders in the department's entrepreneurship ecosystem. The session, which took place on November 28th at the Chía extension facilities, focused on the Tourismtech Arena sector.

This initiative seeks to strengthen digital and business skills, promoting innovation and development in the tourism sector through technological tools and digital transformation strategies.

Javier Fernando Pinzón Castañeda, Knowledge and Learning Manager of Chía, and leader of the Digital Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Management (CDEI), highlighted the importance of this initiative: “These training sessions are not only aimed at the university community, but at all actors in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the TEC tourism sector of the department.”.

“We have the support of government entities and private companies that train us in areas such as investment, venture capital creation, and financing strategies. We have the participation of mayors from municipalities such as Zipaquirá, Sopó, Cota, and Chía, as well as representatives from Asocentro, the Association of Municipalities of Sabana Centro, and the Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Cundinamarca Governorate,” the professor noted.

Among the invited experts was Camila Lecaros, renowned for her experience in international accelerators such as Wayra, Combinator, and Endeavor. According to Pinzón Castañeda, her presentation was fundamental in providing practical tools to the participants. “What we seek with these training sessions is that, as actors in the ecosystem, we make informed and strategic decisions that can impact the government plans of the mayoral offices and the strategic plan of our University for 2025.”

These types of initiatives reinforce the University of Cundinamarca's commitment to business development and innovation in the region, laying the foundations for a more competitive and sustainable future.
