The workshop was held with 2,000 participants.

The Latin American Workshop is an event of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cundinamarca that was born in 2017, and this year reached its eighth edition under the theme of software development, artificial intelligence and the use of data with 2,117 attendees, on April 4th at the Chía extension.

“It is an urgent need to work on the proper management of data, given the rapid advancement of technology. The challenge is to control and understand the information, which is why we developed this workshop,” stated the dean of the Faculty of Engineering, engineer Javier Gracia.

The Latin American Workshop was held in three phases. The first phase consisted of conferences and talks focused on artificial intelligence and data intelligence. The second phase was developed through workshops and short exercises on the same topics. The third phase was based on carrying out a programming marathon where students from the invited universities had to solve programming problems.

It is worth noting that the following institutions participated in this event: the District University, the National University of Medellín, INDRA, and the CCPL (Colombian Collegiate Programming League), led by the Gran Colombiano Polytechnic. This year's event featured a special guest, Dr. Eduardo Rodríguez, Director of the IQAnalytics Inc. Research and Consulting Center in Ottawa, Canada.

“In this version, the workshop was carried out under the learning field methodology, and each activity developed responded to this methodology, aligned with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model, METID, which prioritizes being over doing,” explained Liliana Casas Méndez, the coordinator of the Systems and Computing Engineering program at the Ubaté branch.

The Latin American Workshop was born in the Ubaté branch as a programming camp initiative, and from there it has been developed annually in different branches and extensions of the University of Cundinamarca.
