As an initiative to strengthen the Person, Family, Institution, and Society dimensions of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), the efr Reconciliation Management model, “Family-Responsible Entity,” has arrived at UCundinamarca. This international initiative promotes balance across the various areas of a person's life—professional, academic, work, and family—for the sake of developing a more balanced and fulfilling life project for administrative staff, managers, knowledge and learning facilitators (professors), and students.
“The Institution, through the MEDIT, guides the actions of the University of Cundinamarca and educates for life and human development from the perspective of being, which aligns with the Family-Responsible Entity Model – efr. We have been working to ensure that the actions carried out by the different areas are evidenced as part of this system,” stated Martha Zapata, the professional leading the initiative from ISU.
During the month of October, the audit is expected that will evaluate whether the University of Cundinamarca complies with the requirements of Reconciliation Management, which promotes reconciliation or harmony between the different areas of life, including work, personal, and family life, without losing sight of productivity, results, and labor competitiveness. The Másfamilia Foundation awards this recognition to companies that meet the criteria of balance, flexibility, and responsibility. To date, UCundinamarca would be the first public university to receive this recognition.
“This model benefits the university community because it allows an environment that provides quality employment, quality education, temporal and spatial flexibility, support for employees' families, personal and professional development, equal opportunities, and diversity,” said Patricia Gil, ISU director and manager of the efr management program. She added that the support of Dr. Adriano Muñoz, who signed the commitment, and the support of Academic Vice-Rector Víctor Londoño (efr Director) and Administrative Vice-Rector Myriam Lucía Sánchez, have been decisive for the progress.
Balance, Flexibility and Responsibility
The acronym efr (family-responsible entity) also symbolizes the core values of this initiative:
Balance between work, family, and self, it consists of harmony or balance among the different dimensions of human development; in being able to provide options so that the family continues to be a place of protection and care, and individuals can harmonize their life projects.
Flexibility It is the construction of a work environment based on trust, self-regulation, efficiency, and productivity, instead of attendance control, rigidity, and excessive hierarchy.
Responsibility social is a value that must be taught and fostered in both the family and educational spheres and extended within organizations, generating a harmonious environment of convenience. It implies an awareness of the impact of our actions in the social, environmental, economic, and ethical fields.
