The Environmental Engineering program, Girardot section, received an academic visit in November from Cecilia Uribe Villamar, a chemical engineer from the National Technological Institute of Mexico, Lázaro Cárdenas campus (TecNM – ITLAC), as part of internationalization actions under the "Dialogando con el Mundo" (Dialogue with the World) program and academic strengthening.
During her stay, the professor gave two specialized lectures on the extraction and characterization of Pleco fish protein and the proximate analysis of the freshwater mussel Anodontites trapesialis in the state of Michoacán, sharing research results with students and faculty of the program.
Professor Cecilia emphasized the importance of the academic exchange between Colombia and Mexico, highlighting the value of intercultural and scientific dialogue in the training of professionals with a global vision. “These spaces make it possible to strengthen international cooperation, share experiences, and develop joint projects with real impact,” she noted.
Likewise, he highlighted the University of Cundinamarca's commitment to relevant education connected to the region, as well as its academic community's interest in integrating research, innovation, and social outreach into the educational processes.
For her part, Sandra Bibiana Vargas, knowledge and learning manager for the Environmental Engineering program in Girardot, explained that the visit made it possible to strengthen educational processes from global perspectives. She highlighted the talk on integrated management systems in Mexico, as well as the presentation of results from research projects developed at the Tecnológico de México.
The experience also included hands-on laboratory experiences, such as lipid extraction and the use of the rotary evaporator, which enriched the students' applied learning and strengthened the program's technical capabilities.
This meeting reaffirms the institutional commitment of the University of Cundinamarca to the internationalization of knowledge, the consolidation of strategic alliances, and the construction of academic networks that contribute to higher education with a global vision and territorial relevance.
