Five decades of training nursing professionals

UCundinamarca proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of its Nursing Program, a trajectory that has marked the history of higher education in health in the region and the country.

Since its creation in the 1970s, the program has established itself as one of the pillars of professional training with the greatest social impact, educating generations of nurses committed to well-being, ethics, and community service.

Under the current coordination of Dr. Sandra Carmona, the program has strengthened its academic and scientific projection, integrating new pedagogical strategies, lines of research in human care, and community practice spaces that reaffirm the University's commitment to public health and sustainable human development.

During these five decades, the Nursing Program has contributed to the transformation of professional practice, adapting to the challenges of the contemporary healthcare context, new care technologies, and the demands of the Colombian health system. Its history is also the history of hundreds of graduates who today lead processes in hospital, community, and academic institutions at the regional, national, and international levels. Since 1975, the program has trained generations of professionals committed to humanized care, ethics, and service to the Colombian community.

From my experience as a Knowledge Manager and part of this community for over 15 years, I have witnessed the growth, innovation, and deep human spirit that characterize our program. These fifty years not only celebrate a past of achievements, but also project a future of leadership, research, and social commitment.

Today the institution honors the dedication of its faculty, students, and graduates, and reaffirms its mission to continue educating nursing professionals with academic excellence, human sensitivity, and a vocation of service.
