The Nursing program of the Girardot branch participated for the first time in the commemoration of Brain Awareness Week, held from March 16 to 22, an international initiative that promotes awareness of brain health and care.

In this context, the academic and experiential learning took place “Your brain can turn off pain: live experiences on mind, emotion and perception”, held on March 16, where students, teachers, and the general community experienced an innovative learning space.

According to Rafael Leonardo Cortés Lugo, Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Nursing program and leader of the event, the experience was characterized by a dynamic methodology based on interaction, experimentation, and the use of technological tools. This allowed participants to understand how cognitive and emotional processes directly influence the perception of pain.

Through live exercises and spaces for reflection, attendees explored the role of the brain as a fundamental modulator of the human experience. In addition, digital instruments were incorporated for data collection before and after the session, strengthening the analysis and feedback processes as well as the research component.

The event had the support of the Knowledge and Learning Manager, Amanda Ortiz Doncel, and the institutional backing of the program coordinator, Sandra Carmona, whose guidance was key to the development of this experience. Likewise, Opportunity Creators, Knowledge and Learning Managers, and the general community participated, consolidating a space for the social appropriation of knowledge and scientific dissemination in the field of neurosciences.

With this initiative, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to pedagogical innovation, social outreach, and the generation of meaningful learning experiences, in tune with global trends in education and science.

In alignment with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), these experiences strengthen holistic education by articulating knowledge, technology, and human interaction, promoting meaningful learning that transforms the understanding of the world and contributes to the well-being of individuals and communities.
