Zipaquirá is preparing to open the doors to its new headquarters

“The goal is for the building to be completely authorized and fully operational by March,” explained the administrative director.

In an interview with the University of Cundinamarca News Agency (ANUC), Dr. Guillermo Montaño Gallo, administrative director of the Zipaquirá extension, shared the plans and challenges that will shape the development of this regional unit during the first semester of 2025. In addition, he told us about the extension's new facilities to strengthen academic training and community engagement.

University of Cundinamarca News Agency (ANUC):What are the main plans and objectives of the Zipaquirá extension for this semester?

One of the main objectives is the presentation of the document for the curricular resignification of the Music program. This process seeks to update and improve the program's academic proposal with the goal of achieving its approval during the course of the semester. This progress will allow for the consolidation of the educational offer and respond to the new demands of the musical and educational sector.

ANUC: How do these plans align with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT)?

Regarding the alignment of the plans with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), the approval of the curricular resignification will allow for the full implementation of this model. This will benefit both students and Knowledge and Learning Managers, facilitating an innovative pedagogical approach in line with digital trends.

ANUC: What are the main challenges facing the Zipaquirá extension in this period?

Among the main challenges, the complete relocation of the students to the new facilities stands out. The goal is for the building to be fully authorized and in full operation by the month of March. This goal represents a logistical and administrative challenge, but also a great opportunity to improve teaching and learning conditions.

ANUC:What strategies are being implemented to strengthen educational quality and the student experience at this extension?

To improve educational quality and enrich the student experience, the Extension has designed a strategy aimed at expanding the dissemination of its cultural activities. In this sense, the concerts organized by the University will not be limited to being presented solely at the extension, but will be taken to different municipalities in the province. This initiative is intended to generate greater visibility and bring the university's cultural offerings closer to the community, allowing more people to enjoy the music and talent of the students.

ANUC:What prominent projects are underway or planned for this semester?

Among the most relevant projects to be developed during the semester is the Eighth version of the Congress of Music Research and Creation. This event will bring together experts, professors, and students in a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences surrounding music and research in this field.

ANUCAre there initiatives or programs that seek to strengthen the bond between the extension and the community of Zipaquirá?

Another fundamental purpose of the Zipaquirá extension is to strengthen its relationship with the community. To this end, work will be done on the Translocal Problem Bank, an initiative that seeks to identify key sectors, such as commerce and tourism, to establish collaborative projects. Likewise, the aim is to generate alliances with entities such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Municipal Mayor's Office.

In the educational field, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Education, concerts will be held in all public schools in the municipality. This initiative seeks to bring music closer to young people and foster an interest in art and culture from an early age.

ANUC: What kind of academic, cultural, or social experiences do you have planned for this semester?

The calendar of scheduled events for this semester is broad and varied. Among the most prominent activities is the Serenade for Cundinamarca, which will take place in May. In addition, the fifth anniversary of MEDIT will be celebrated, a key date for the University of Cundinamarca, and there will be participation in an important concert at the Auditorium of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University.

Through these projects, strategies, and events, the extension reaffirms its commitment to quality education, pedagogical innovation, and community integration. The University of Cundinamarca continues to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the academic and cultural sphere of the region.
