By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

Oscar Alberto Herrera Camacho, a 2013 graduate of the Music program, currently works as a teacher in the Music program at the Zipaquirá extension. In his role as an educator, Oscar guides the opera workshop processes, leads the Production and Technology team, and oversees the organization and staging of the Music program's institutional groups, implementing day-to-day the institution's educational model that prioritizes being over doing.

“I am responsible for the training and stage direction of the group, where we work on developing stage presence skills, not only for singers, but also for those who wish to explore the performing arts,” he explained. This innovative approach has allowed the workshop to offer comprehensive training to all students in the music program.

“The opera workshop has been part of the program for 13 years, having established itself as a space for artistic creation and continuous learning. Its dynamics include presentations at the end of each semester, resulting in an average of four exhibitions per academic cycle.

In this context, the implementation of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) has presented significant challenges. According to Oscar, this process has been a true journey in recent semesters. “The most important thing is that this model places the student at the center of the learning process, motivating them to manage and generate knowledge,” he highlighted.

This innovation not only enriches music education, but also promotes more interactive learning tailored to the needs of the students, the teacher added.

Additionally, she is about to complete her master's degree in music pedagogy at the International University of La Rioja in Spain (UNIR), which reflects her ongoing commitment to education and artistic development.
