The talent, discipline, and comprehensive education of the University of Cundinamarca continue to leave their mark on national stages. Laura Daniela Páramo Pardo, a Zootechny student at the Fusagasugá campus and close to graduating, was crowned Best Cattle Showperson during the national judging held as part of EXPOMALOCAS 2026, one of the most important livestock events in the country.
This recognition marks a historic milestone, as for the first time a woman has won the top award in the judging of the Charolais breed in Colombia, a arena traditionally led by men.
During her academic journey, Laura Daniela actively participated in the University's Bovine Club and volunteered for six months at the La Esperanza Agroenvironmental Unit, experiences that strengthened her practical skills in animal production and livestock management.
Subsequently, between August 2025 and February 2026, he completed his internships at the Ganadería Central Genética Buena Vista, located in El Rosal (Cundinamarca), under the mentorship of veterinarian and animal scientist Germán Rodríguez, president of the Colombian Association of Charolais Cattle Breeders.
There he consolidated skills in the handling, preparation, and presentation of show cattle of the Charolais and Simmental breeds, participating in national fairs and exhibitions in departments such as Casanare, Santander, Cundinamarca, and the Eastern Plains.
A barrier-breaking achievement
Thanks to months of dedicated work in the care, nutrition, and handling of cattle, Laura Daniela achieved first place in the ring, standing out for her technique, sensitivity, and connection with the animals.
According to expert Germán Rodríguez, this recognition represents a significant advance for the livestock sector, historically marked by gender stereotypes. Her triumph demonstrates that knowledge, preparation, and commitment are more decisive than physical strength.
The student's achievement not only highlights her professional excellence, but also helps break down myths and open new opportunities for women in Colombian livestock farming.
Laura Daniela highlights that her training was strengthened by the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), which allowed her to develop critical thinking, learning autonomy, and comprehensive skills that now boost her career prospects in the livestock sector.
Institutional pride
This national recognition reflects the University's commitment to training professionals capable of transforming regions through knowledge, innovation, and respect for animal life.
Laura Daniela's achievement not only represents a personal triumph, but also the result of a solid educational process that projects the institution into high-level competitive and academic scenarios.
