The Institution celebrates the outstanding result of Camilo Andrés Suárez Marenco, Opportunity Creator of the Bachelor's Degree program in Physical Education, Recreation and Sport at the Fusagasugá campus, who continues to demonstrate that discipline, training and perseverance are key to achieving great goals.

During the Qualifying Tournament for the 2027 National Games, Senior Men's category, held on August 14 and 15 in Bogotá, Camilo Andrés represented the department of Cundinamarca and won second place in basketball, a result that allowed him to advance on the road to the highest national sporting event.

For Camilo, this result represents much more than a position on the podium: “Obtaining second place in this qualifier and achieving qualification for the 2027 National Games represents a very important achievement for me, not only for the sporting result, but for the effort, discipline and dedication that have been necessary to get to this point,” he expressed.

The athlete stated that this experience also serves as motivation to continue working towards the new challenge: “It fills me with pride and satisfaction, because it shows that constant work and perseverance have their reward. This qualifier motivates me to continue training and preparing with greater commitment,” he said.

Looking ahead to the 2027 National Games, Camilo acknowledges that a new stage is opening in his sporting career, "They represent a new challenge and a great opportunity to continue growing as an athlete.".

The achievement also holds special significance for Camilo because of his ongoing studies at UCundinamarca. As a student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, and Sports, he acknowledges that the University has contributed significantly to both his academic and athletic development. "My university education has allowed me to strengthen not only my knowledge related to sports and training, but also fundamental values such as responsibility, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and the ability to face challenges with a positive mindset," he explained.

He also highlighted the contribution of the knowledge acquired during his career to his performance as an athlete: "The University has contributed significantly to my growth, both academically and athletically.".

Their story reflects the Opportunity Creators' commitment to sports and their ability to proudly represent the University and the department in competitive settings.

Training that becomes opportunities

From UCundinamarca, Camilo's experience demonstrates how university education can become a tool to achieve new challenges, strengthen talents and generate impact in the territory; his academic process contributes to his integral development as an athlete and future professional in physical education.

This trajectory connects with the principles of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), which promotes education for life, based on values, autonomy, critical thinking and the ability to act and transform realities from the territory.

Congratulations, Camilo Andrés. Your qualification for the 2027 National Games inspires the entire university community and demonstrates that when talent meets discipline, training, and perseverance, new opportunities open up to go further.
