Artificial Intelligence drives Pro Knowledge

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

At the Fusagasugá campus, a research initiative is underway that seeks to transform how Opportunity Creators prepare for the Saber Pro exams by integrating educational innovation, data analysis, and Artificial Intelligence. The project, led by Fernanda Gálvez Sabogal, Knowledge and Learning Manager for the Public Accounting program, is part of the 10th Internal Research Call and aims to strengthen the generic and specific competencies assessed in these exams.

“Among the project’s main achievements are the development of AI-based modules for structuring tests and the creation of a question bank that will help strengthen students” academic preparation,“ explained the project manager. She also highlighted that one of the most significant results is the development of the ”Saber Pro Assistant” software, an AI-based tool that has already been submitted for registration. This solution aims to provide new academic support options, leverage the potential of emerging technologies, and improve students’ performance on the Saber Pro exams.

The research also includes the analysis of academic data to establish performance baselines, identify gaps, and recognize student groups that require additional support. Furthermore, progress is being made in creating a dashboard that will allow for the visualization of metrics related to academic performance and support decision-making.

The initiative brings together the expertise of the Public Accounting, Systems Engineering, and Computer Engineering programs, as well as other academic stakeholders involved in innovation and knowledge management. This interdisciplinary collaboration combines data analysis, quality assurance, and the development of technological solutions. The project also creates opportunities for training new researchers through the supervision of undergraduate theses, participation in research groups, and the generation of new research outputs.

For Diego Hernán Guzmán Carrero, a Systems and Computer Engineering student and member of the project, one of the key objectives is PRO Promotion, An AI-powered solution that aims to transform exam preparation. “Our goal is clear: no student will ever have to face the test booklet alone again,” said the student, who explained that the platform will integrate preparation for both general and specific skills, with personalized training adaptable to each user's level.

Héctor Santiago García, an Animal Science student at the Fusagasugá campus, highlighted the importance of this tool in supporting and strengthening the knowledge acquired in different areas of study and preparing for the Saber Pro exams. “I believe this application is a very important strategy for putting into practice and strengthening our knowledge in different areas of study, especially in preparing for the Saber Pro exams,” he stated.

Through mobile devices, students will be able to access training tools, step-by-step explanations, and content based on official ICFES documentation, expanding preparation possibilities beyond a classroom, a schedule, or a single learning space.

With this initiative, the University of Cundinamarca continues to implement the principles of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), promoting innovative learning experiences in which technology and Artificial Intelligence become tools to enhance students' capabilities. In this way, research, knowledge, and innovation are integrated to generate new opportunities and respond, through education, to the challenges of a constantly evolving society.
