Virtual multidimensional learning

The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has presented a great challenge for UCundinamarca; however, it has also been an opportunity to reinvent itself, generate virtual learning spaces mediated by information and communication technologies, and adopt the Transmodern Digital Educational Model, MEDIT, declared by the institution.

Today we observe that the classroom is not in the space of four walls, and that the formative process, more than talking and listening, involves interaction, action and transformation in order to achieve a multidimensional learning field.

The situation in times of coronavirus leads us to reaffirm the reflection of the rector of the University of Cundinamarca, Adriano Muñoz Barrera: “Technology is also a constitutive axis of the educational process, given the strong presence of digitalization in daily life, which implies rethinking learning through virtuality and different technological devices; beyond the automation of processes, the design and use of platforms.”.

From the current institutional point of view, and in the words of Muñoz Barrera: “The University of Cundinamarca is conceived as a multidimensional field of learning, where the classroom is not the only source of learning; but also realities such as culture, the person, society, the institution, the family and nature, which interacting with each other, give rise to the expected learning result, evidenced in an improved and transformative act, where students act, live experiences and solve problems of social, disciplinary and personal reality.

In the context of virtual teaching and the use of technological tools, the Academic Support Unit of the University of Cundinamarca presents the report on the effectiveness of class registration in the role of "your online learning experience" with a cut-off date of April 7, 2020..

The report shows a total of 7,990 classes, 19,678 hours and 1,188 groups created, using technological tools such as Microsoft Teams, Office 365 email, Moodle, Google Drive, Dropbox, Skype, among others.

The Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences records a total of 1,704 classes, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences shows 1,370 classes, the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education shows 747 classes, the Faculty of Education records 336, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Sciences 1,792, the Faculty of Engineering 1,788 and the Faculty of Health Sciences 189.

The lockdown leads us to think digitally, which implies another way of understanding, being and doing; and in-person interaction becomes virtual thanks to various technological and pedagogical tools for dialogic and formative learning, with a view to a personal transformation that positively influences society.
