The administrative director, Juan Carlos Méndez, presented the management report for the 2018 term to the community, along with the actions carried out and aligned with the six strategic fronts of the rectoral plan.

“The 2018 academic year for the University of Cundinamarca’s Girardot Campus was a year of achieving its core objectives in academic and administrative management, as well as in sustainability, with a focus on creating a green campus. So much so that the Alto Magdalena Regional Autonomous Corporation recognized the campus for planting 3,000 trees, in addition to creating vertical gardens and green spaces, and installing solar panels and lighting fixtures. Furthermore, the increase in the Proudec levy from 0.5 to 1%—which, according to Resolution 014 of 2018, would amount to an annual increase of $240 million, is proving to be very beneficial for the entire university community,” stated Juan Carlos Méndez Forero, administrative director at the Translocal Management Forum.

Among the branch’s other achievements, the following stand out: the impact of the grid-connected photovoltaic system (solar panels), which resulted in savings of 23,000 kW, amounting to $12 million pesos; the restoration of 6,622 mt2 of green spaces; the sorting of recyclable waste, resulting in a reduction of 2,078.9 Kg of waste sent to landfills; and the installation of two eco-containers and the collection of yard waste for composting, resulting in the production of 3 m³ of organic compost.

In the area of environmental education, the branch provided training to 335 people and helped foster an environmental culture by conserving reams of paper and paper towels, resulting in savings of $1,692,000.

Within the strategic activities of transmodernity and translocality, proposed in the field of cultural learning, it is worth mentioning the participation of 2,627 people in events such as: La Serenata por Cundinamarca, Cátedra Rector, Travesía por Cundinamarca, Feria Empresarial, Turística y Gastronómica, Siembra un Árbol por los Hijos, Día del Maestro, and Día de la Familia.

In the management of education for life, democratic values, civility, and freedom, a total of 17,548 people—including the university community and the general public—benefited from University Welfare programs. These included training workshops, support for socioeconomic programs (dining hall and housing), training workshops and competitions in taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, futsal, soccer, ultimate frisbee, jiu-jitsu, a 5K athletic race, zumba, family planning workshops, health week, and psychological support for students regarding dropout prevention and promotion and prevention consultations.
