Since it began operations three years ago at its new campus, the Chía Extension has established itself in the Sabana Centro province as an institution recognized in the region for its academic offerings and its close relationship with the student population of the municipalities of Cajicá, Cota, Tabio, Tenjo, Zipaquirá, Cogua, Nemocón, Sopó, and the capital city of Bogotá itself.

The year 2018 has been a period of university strengthening and increased visibility for Extension. Administrative management highlights the provision of technological goods for the research process, physics and network-electronics laboratories, the acquisition of the vehicle fleet for conducting academic practices, the supply of tools for maintenance services, and the upgrading of two main lecture halls, the implementation of APS in the academic building and library, and the improvement of Wi-Fi connectivity.

In coordination with the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and the Directorate of the Extension, the Second International Congress on Organizational Management was held with the participation of 450 people. Likewise, the Seventh International Congress of Engineering, Emerging Technologies for 21st-Century Generation was carried out, which featured the participation of 500 attendees, five international speakers, the participation of the Vice President of Operations of Huawei Colombia, eight prominent national speakers, and the attendance of the manager of the Cartagena refinery. During the event, there was a poster exhibition by the research seedbeds. Approximately 19 million pesos were raised from registrations. In addition to this, a book with the proceedings of the event was published.
