The translocal forums have begun! A space for dialogue to ensure accountability from the regional units.

The translocal management forums of the University of Cundinamarca have become a fundamental platform for accountability, providing information to the university community and society regarding the actions carried out by the directors of branches and extensions. These meetings allow various civil society organizations and public entities to evaluate compliance with policies and projects, presenting data on investments, training, research, and university welfare.

In a dialogue with the UCundinamarca News Agency, Dr. Carlos Augusto Trujillo Padilla, administrative director of Extension Chía, shared a detailed report on the administrative and academic achievements attained during this period.

Dr. Trujillo Padilla explained that the translocal forum is approached from seven different fronts. The first details the management of the Regional Unit; the second, that of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies; the third focuses on training and learning through extension programs. Management in science, technology, and research is also considered as the fourth front, followed by admissions and university welfare management. In addition, academic support management is highlighted, and finally, management through integrated systems.

En cuanto a los logros académicos de 2023, el funcionario destacó tres aspectos clave. Primero, el programa de Contaduría Pública renovó su registro calificado por siete años más, mientras que el programa de Administración de Empresas obtuvo condiciones iniciales para la acreditación de alta calidad, logrando un cumplimiento del 75% en su plan de mejoramiento, con metas establecidas para el periodo 2022-2024. Asimismo, el doctor Trujillo Padilla subrayó los avances en ciencia, tecnología e investigación, mencionando que la extensión cuenta con tres grupos de investigación categorizados dos en B y uno en C y más de nueve investigadores, entre los que destacan dos asociados y el resto, junior.

La extensión alberga más de siete semilleros con un total de 89 semilleristas. Durante 2023, se realizaron diez proyectos de investigación que culminaron con publicaciones científicas, incluyendo la entrega de dos capítulos de libros y más de 22 ponencias presentadas por estudiantes e investigadores. También se publicaron más de ocho artículos en revistas, algunas de ellas indexadas, así como el desarrollo de una cartilla en estudios tributarios.

It should be noted that the Chía extension incorporated four programs during 2023, among which is the recently created industrial engineering program, which offers an academic selection that has welcomed approximately 1,600 students.

On the administrative front, the executive emphasized the importance of decentralizing processes and budgets from headquarters, which has enabled the branch to address challenges in the execution of its financial management. Through 2023, it was allocated a budget of more than 1.2 billion, of which 85% was earmarked for operational projects. It is noteworthy that the branch allocated more than 890 million to operational projects.

Finally, the administrative director emphasized the support for training processes through academic activities that generate educational and learning experiences. The hiring of faculty and administrative staff has made it possible to have more than 195 professors and more than 45 members on the administrative team, resulting in efficient execution thanks to a team committed to the transformation of human beings through the implementation of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT).
