Nursing Program engages with the world

Two years after the implementation of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) and in accordance with one of its fronts that seeks translocal development, the internationalization in the nursing program of the UdeC has yielded important results during this time.

We have had the opportunity to share the common curriculum internationally by engaging in dialogue with other cultures, exchanging knowledge, experiences and expertise that have strengthened training and learning processes, through strategic actions that are included in the institutional policy UCundinamarca Dialoguing with the World.

“We have created 15 mirror classrooms, which have benefited a population of 802 people, of which 325 correspond to students and teachers from our Nursing program and 477 to external students and teachers from international partner universities,” said Yuri Chávez, a teacher in the Nursing program at UCundinamarca and leader of Dialoguing with the World.

The international students who have participated in the mirror classrooms have been from universities such as: Norbert Wiener in Peru, the State University of Sonora in Hermosilla and the University of Colima in Mexico.

As part of the internationalization, conferences and webinars have also been developed, many of them virtually, which have allowed the active participation of teachers and students of the program with the international universities in agreement.

“This year, for example, a volunteer program was carried out from July 3 to August 6, with the participation of six international students from the Technological Institute of Mexico, Lázaro Cárdenas campus, who came to UCundinamarca and with whom we shared knowledge and experiences based on social projects that we are managing from the Girardot branch,” said Professor Chávez.

Furthermore, internationalization at the level of bilingualism has also been addressed in the program with scholarships to study Portuguese: eleven students and one teacher have benefited from them with the Federal University of Roraima in Boa Vista (Brazil), with which a workshop was held to promote the use of bibliography with other languages.

“We have been sharing the Dialoguing with the World policy with students and faculty of the program every semester, with the aim of further strengthening the teaching processes that allow us to break down the barriers of knowledge. We continue to prepare ourselves in internationalization matters for the program's accreditation, in a process we are carrying out in conjunction with Dialoguing with the World, through the Institutional Network for Cross-Border Dialogue,” concluded Professor Chávez.
