On August 18 and 19, the Ubaté branch hosted the first Territorial Dialogue with the university community, marking the beginning of a series of regional units working together to co-create the 2027–2037 Strategic Plan, “Cultivating the UCundinamarca We Are & Dream Of.” During the meeting, the main results and lessons learned from the 2016–2026 Strategic Plan were shared, along with the methodology developed to create the first version of the new Plan.
It is worth highlighting that this co-creation process was developed using the Learning Field Methodology (LFM), which guides participation, dialogue, reflection, and collective construction based on the realities of the territories. The university community learned about the proposed institutional mission and vision and the five strategic transformations that project the University's horizon toward 2037: Smart UC, Translocal UC, Digital UC, Entrepreneurial and Innovative UC, and UC for Life.
Among the strategic transformations presented is UC Translocal, whose statement proposes: “Transmodern thinking and translocal identity through the articulation of substantive functions to generate territorial, national and Latin American impact and projection”. This transformation is one of the components of the proposal that the University is putting forward to the community in this territorial tour.
At the meeting, Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera referred to UC Translocal as an initiative to project the University's identity and work from its local areas to national and Latin American stages. The proposal recognizes that each campus, extension, and academic unit builds the University based on the particularities, knowledge, capacities, and dynamics of its territory, and that these can connect and strengthen each other through core functions, cooperation, and exchange.
From this perspective, the territory is conceived as a starting point for generating connections, learning, and exchanges with other contexts. Translocality seeks to ensure that the realities, knowledge, and capacities of each territory engage in dialogue with other territories and settings, strengthening the presence and reach of UCundinamarca.
UC Translocal articulates training and learning; science, technology and innovation; and University Social Interaction, with territorial impact, internationalization, networks and cooperation, international accreditation of programs and the strengthening of translocal identity.
As part of the Territorial Dialogue, the experience “Transformations that connect us” was developed, in which Opportunity Creators (students), Knowledge and Learning Managers (teachers), graduates and administrative staff learned about the proposals, reflected on the institutional challenges and made contributions to enrich this first version of the Plan.
The Ubaté Territorial Dialogue thus marks the beginning of a co-creation process that will continue throughout the University's regional units. The contributions gathered will enrich the first version of the Plan and its strategic transformations, advancing the collective definition of the UCundinamarca We Are & We Dream of by 2037.
