This is a special recognition to the professors, students, administrative staff, directors, graduates and all those who contributed to achieving this great accomplishment and for having paved the way that allows us to be here today delivering to this generation the high quality accreditation of the Bachelor's Degree in Basic Education with Emphasis in Social Sciences program, said Adriano Muñoz Barrera, Rector of UCundinamarca.

“This significant step will allow the University of Cundinamarca to continue on the path of high quality, given that it now has the institutional conditions to do so. Our challenge now is to continue along the path of high quality for all academic programs and to keep working for this university, which deserves all our effort and commitment to take it to the place it deserves: the top positions among the country's public institutions,” stated the rector.

The National Accreditation Council (CNA) highlighted the strengths of the program, which for 14 years has achieved quality levels and has delivered to the country 351 well-rounded graduates of high human and professional quality who act in intercultural contexts, as agents of a culture of peace and coexistence.

The Ministry took into account the coherence, relevance and currentness of the mission principles of the program, built through the active participation of the university bodies, a project that assumes the crisis of modernity and the break with the scientific, technical tradition under the assumptions of positivism and articulated with the Cundinamarca, Fusagasugá, Sumapaz region through networks of teachers, cultural meetings, women's organizations, theater, dance, among others.

The program's strengths lie in academics, research, community outreach, student welfare, and graduate integration. These strengths are further enhanced by above-average results on the 2013-2014 Saber Pro exams and by an optimal campus with the appropriate infrastructure for fulfilling its mission.

It is worth mentioning that undergraduate research is promoted through the Subjectivity, Education and Culture Group, categorized as C by the National Science and Technology System of Colciencias, which has developed 85 projects in the last 5 years, represented in academic books, book chapters, presentations and articles published in indexed media.

Likewise, through social outreach, the program works in conjunction with research projects and pedagogical practices, achieving a systemic network between teaching, research, and social outreach.

Similarly, the degree program has achieved national and international visibility through proposals related to the defense of water resources in agreement with the government, peace processes, new curricular approaches in schools, work with vulnerable populations, and active participation in national networks.

At the international level, the program is linked to the CLACSO network, participating in academic events and working in the co-organization of international events such as the Latin American Biennial of Childhoods and Youth (2014) and the VII Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences (2015).

It is worth noting that the program recognition event was led by the Directorate of Self-Evaluation and Accreditation, headed by Dr. Ángela Merchán Basabe and her team.
