The Knowledge Manager left a mark on students, colleagues, and the university community through her human quality and vocation.
The University of Cundinamarca deeply and respectfully bids farewell to Luz Daisy Flórez Espinal, Knowledge and Learning Manager of the Chía extension, whose life and career left an indelible mark on the university community. Her passing brings mourning to those who shared with her the classrooms, research projects, academic spaces, and, above all, the friendship built over the years.
Business Administrator from the University of Antioquia, specialist in Socioeconomic Evaluation of Projects, Master in Economic Sciences from the National University of Colombia, PhD candidate in Complex Thinking, and educational coach, Luz Daisy built a solid academic career that was always accompanied by a deep vocation for service and an ongoing commitment to the education of her students.
Beyond her professional titles and achievements, those who knew her highlight a quality that made her unique: her ability to inspire, listen to, and support others.
For Knowledge and Learning Manager Alejandra Riveros, a close friend and colleague, Luz Daisy was a woman passionate about research, writing, and critical thinking. She recalls that she always had a creative idea to face challenges and that her door was open to those seeking guidance.
“She was a woman who loved her profession deeply. She adored researching, writing, questioning, and always had an idea to solve a problem. She possessed an enormous capacity to see the good in people and anticipate situations with an admirable vision,” she expresses.
Riveros also highlights her personal strength, her unwavering faith, and her ability to bravely face the most complex moments of her life. He remembers her as an unconditional friend, a joyful woman with an easy smile and a generous spirit, who found happiness in the little details and who was always grateful for the support received from the University, her students, and her colleagues.
From the Business Administration program, coordinator John Zambrano highlights Luz Daisy's impact on the academic and personal development of the students.
“She was a First Lady committed to her work, a person who made others see life in a positive way and who worked tirelessly for the good name of the University. More than a
colleague, she was a light for those of us who had the opportunity to share [our time] with her. Today she leaves lessons that will remain among us, she states.
His legacy also lives on in the memory of those who were his students. For Luis, one of the young people who had the opportunity to learn from her, Luz Daisy represented much more than a teacher.
“Talking about Professor Luz Daisy is talking about a true fighter. She didn't just teach from knowledge; she also did so from the heart. She had a special energy that connected with us and motivated us not to give up. She taught us that we could go far and that education was a tool to transform our lives, she recalls.
During her time at the University of Cundinamarca, Luz Daisy promoted academic, research, and outreach projects that strengthened the comprehensive education of students. Her areas of work were linked to entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial soft skills, and complex thinking applied to organizational development, topics she always approached from a human and transformative perspective.
His passion for research and lifelong learning was reflected in every initiative he led and in the way he mentored generations of students, whom he motivated to develop critical thinking, social awareness, and a commitment to their communities.
Today, her absence leaves a deep void in the Chía campus, but also an invaluable heritage built through knowledge, friendship, and solidarity. Her legacy remains in every student inspired by her words, in every colleague who shared her path, and in every project she helped build.
The University of Cundinamarca pays tribute to a woman who dedicated her life to educating, researching, and sowing hope. A Knowledge Manager whose light will continue to be present in the memory of those who had the privilege of knowing her and learning from her.
Thank you, Professor Luz Daisy Flórez Espinal. Your example and your legacy will live on forever in the university community.
