The Fusagasugá campus was the setting on May 7 for the 7th Business and 2nd International Congress, an academic experience that brought together national and international experts to discuss innovation, business leadership, research, and social transformation in a global context.
During the installation of the experience, the dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences, Dr. Miguel Alejandro Flechas Montaño, emphasized that the congress transcended traditional lectures to become a space for collective construction among academia, businesses, and the region.
Furthermore, he explained that the meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on three fundamental axes of the contemporary world: innovation, the strategic value of data, and business leadership, understood from the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) as elements that must be built with an ethical, human, and social sense.
“Talking about innovation means thinking differently and generating relevant solutions for the needs of communities. Data only transforms when interpreted responsibly and oriented toward collective well-being,” stated the dean.
The meeting included the participation of the rector of the National University of Piura, Adolfo Zeta Vite, and Professor Cecilia Capovila from the National University of Rafaela, who shared experiences and reflections on technology, research, and business development.
For his part, Rector Adolfo Zeta Vite emphasized the importance of strengthening research processes to respond to social problems and highlighted the role of technology as an engine of development for countries.
“The companies that lead today are those that have learned to transform data about their human talent into sustainable competitive advantages. Technology is necessary, but it is also essential to understand and manage human behavior,” stated the Peruvian academic.
For her part, Professor Cecilia Capovila, from the National University of Rafaela in Argentina, focused her presentation on the challenges of learning, teaching, and researching in the age of Artificial Intelligence. During her speech, she emphasized that AI represents one of the greatest challenges for Latin American universities in the 21st century by transforming the dynamics of education, research, and knowledge production. She also explained that, although these tools offer great opportunities, it is important to understand that Artificial Intelligence does not replace human thought and can also make mistakes. “The real challenge lies in learning how to use it properly to obtain relevant and responsible results, especially in teaching and research processes,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Yudy Rojas, Knowledge and Learning Manager of the Business Administration program and member of the organizing committee, pointed out that MEDIT continues to strengthen life-long learning and the development of critical skills in future professionals.
“This congress allowed us to provide tools that contribute to the economic growth of our region, especially the Sumapaz province, and at the same time enable the University to dialogue with the world,” he stated.
Similarly, Knowledge and Learning Manager Laura Pinto explained that organizations currently must convert data into strategic decisions capable of driving innovation and business competitiveness.
The Management Company also pointed out that companies need to understand the true needs of customers, connect that information with market trends, and use analytical tools that enable quick, effective, and innovative decision-making in an increasingly competitive business environment.
Through this type of academic experience, the University of Cundinamarca continues to strengthen scenarios for international dialogue, knowledge exchange, and lifelong learning, connecting academia with the real dynamics of organizations and the challenges of today's world.
