The second anniversary celebration of MEDIT came to a close with approximately 25,000 people tuning in to the live streams of the 23 experiences presented. The closing ceremony took place via a Facebook Live broadcast on August 29th, during which Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera welcomed the attendees, emphasizing their importance as transformative agents and active participants in the implementation of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT).
“This educational model has had multiple achievements, among which I must highlight, the assurance of quality where it is important to talk about the creation of new qualified records and accreditation, the second is the creation of the multidimensional field of learning and how it has positively affected the curriculum, the third is the rise in the Saber tests and there are the analyses that confirm this reality.
The fourth corresponds to the advancement of the field of learning and innovation, the fifth is the curricular redefinition of academic programs, the sixth is the Bague Cultural Learning Field and how, through work with the community, we have been able to positively impact it, the seventh is the creation of the EFAD learning path, here we show the importance of the teacher and how key they are in the learning process, the eighth is the strengthening of participation mechanisms for student regulations and dialogic meetings, the ninth, zero tuition, and the tenth, integrated management systems that seek quality and excellence,” explained Dr. Claudia Urazán Penagos, Director of Accreditation and Self-Evaluation.
In turn, Juan Esteban Quiñones, the educational manager of EFAD, explained: “Eighty books have been published in this area, representing a significant amount of research. Similarly, we held an event called 'Meditating on Well-being' where we discussed how the educational model has fostered a concern for the well-being of our students, based on transformative human circumstances.”.
For his part, the Academic Vice-Rector, Dr. Víctor Hugo Londoño, highlighted the projects that have been developed in response to calls for proposals from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MinCiencias). “The contribution of the research groups, researchers, and student research teams has been significant, as they have improved the categorization of our projects, as well as their impact on the communities.” Regarding the “Dialoguing with the World” experience, he emphasized the concept of returning to the ancestral maloca (traditional communal house). “In this vein, this has been carried out through the network of Latin American universities, fostering cross-border dialogue that has allowed us to learn about ancestral knowledge, as well as the volunteer opportunities and international internships that are part of this entire process.”.
She also spoke about "Reflecting on Equity and Diversity," highlighting the recognition of diverse experiences. She further emphasized the proposal and developments of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences, explaining that "they were pioneers in implementing our educational model and addressing global challenges.".
Within the development of this interesting conversation and as part of the essence of the rector's office to listen attentively to students and their needs, Yeimer Farid Bohórquez, who is studying the Business Administration program, spoke about the curricular redefinition of the Sports Science and Physical Education program, experiencing MEDIT from the perspective of University Social Interaction and the search for solutions to problems, among other topics.
Finally, Dr. Muñoz Barrera thanked everyone who participated in the MEDIT's second anniversary celebration. “We are now restarting this initiative for the third year of this important experience. We must continue to explore how we challenge and push ourselves every day with our educational model.”.
Next, he launched the Transhuman Person Declaration, a document containing twelve points on the meaning of this pedagogical and philosophical concept, which serves as a life project for students, teachers, administrators, and, in general, for any human being. “Anyone who identifies with these principles can read it carefully and sign it digitally.”.
