II International and Third Departmental Congress of the Dairy Sector

The congress, organized by the Animal Science Program at the Ubaté branch, will take place on October 27th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on October 28th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm via the institution's Facebook Live. "The conferences will focus on aspects such as productivity, quality, and safety of dairy products, as well as innovation. We will provide participants with tools so that producers can achieve a high level of competitiveness in dairy production and processing," says Professor José Fernando Pérez, who is leading the congress organization.

He also commented that the goal is to create synergies with producers. “We aim to promote cooperative alliances with dairy producers through our Animal Science Program in Ubaté, within the University Interaction area.”.

Among the conferences taking place during that day and a half, a highlight will be the presentation by master cheesemaker Marcela Sepúlveda, founder of the School for Women Cheesemakers and the Latin American Cheesemakers Association, who has ten years of experience in the sector. She will speak on the traceability of artisanal cheeses on the 28th from 9:00 to 10:00 am.

On October 27th, Colombia will be represented by speakers Cesar Orrego Wilchet from the University of Antioquia from 9:00 to 10:00 am, who will speak about tailored nutrition in dairy herds, and Juan Carlos Alvarado from the National University from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, who will present on supplementation in dairy cattle.

In this way, UCundinamarca is committed to the development of the Ubaté Valley as part of its social outreach work.
