The UCundinamarca World Music Ensemble opened “Guarapo Music”

The presentation of the Word Music group from UCundinamarca opened a new version of the Alternative Music Festival of the Nueva Granada Military University (UMNG).

The World Music Ensemble of the University of Cundinamarca was chosen to open the UMNG Guarapo Music Vol. 4 Alternative Music Festival, an event whose aim is to promote diverse sounds among its attendees. The main plaza of the Nueva Granada Military University was the venue selected for the performance on October 10th.

With a repertoire ranging from Cuban son, through bachata, klezmer music and different sounds from Africa and Asia; the World Music Ensemble of the University of Cundinamarca entertained the attendees.

For Maestro Oscar Beltrán, director of the Ensemble, the warm reception the band received from the audience at the Nueva Granada Military University and the interaction with other musicians were very important., “It’s nice, there’s no pressure, on the contrary, it’s like, come on!! We’re doing this, what are you doing, and we can enrich each other, it’s more of a collaborative effort…”.

The UCundinamarca World Music Ensemble kicked off their performance with the song “Dysrhythmia”, A Brazilian song featuring instruments like the pandeiro and the tantan. This was followed by klezmer music and some Cuban son. “Tell Catalina”, the topic “Jambone” original by the Snarky Puppy Group, thus ending with the bachata “Your Poison” by the composer Hector “El Torito” Acosta.

With this performance, the members of the Ensemble continue to demonstrate the high musical level of the University of Cundinamarca and the quality of their training.
