Web application for children with hearing disabilities

The lack of didactic and educational strategies that currently exist for the population with some physical and cognitive limitation led the student researchers to implement a web application that allows the social inclusion of children with hearing impairment in school Paul of Tarsus district educational institution.

The project, called SIGN TO ALL, is aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 9, who are in the second grade of primary school. The web application is intended to be a dynamic and educational tool that facilitates communication between these children and their classmates and teachers, as well as strengthening independent learning.

“SIGN TO ALL is a tool that seeks the social and educational inclusion of children with hearing impairments through collective learning. We want equality for all, and there's no better place to start than with children, who are the future. Disabilities should not be seen as limitations or barriers, but as challenges to be overcome. We need to change the world by providing a better quality of life,” the project's creators emphasize.

The web application will provide appropriate information, with several modules including the different basic areas of knowledge, where specific activities and assessments are proposed that will allow the student to develop their learning abilities to the fullest, and the teacher will obtain certain grading tools to facilitate the educational process

Using agile methodology, student researchers hope to advance the educational tool, the interactive content, the development of a functional software prototype for the web application's base, and the pilot test with children, allowing them to visualize the functionality that supports the teaching of sign language and autonomous learning, primarily at the Pablo de Tarso educational center and later at other public entities.
