The University of Cundinamarca reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being, discipline, and holistic development of its community by achieving outstanding participation in the 2026 ASCUN National University Games for University Employees, held in Barranquilla. The university delegation won eight medals: three gold, three silver, and two bronze, a result that demonstrates the talent and dedication of its representatives.
The institutional delegation consisted of 91 people, including 78 athletes, 11 coaches, a delegate, and a nursing professional, who competed in nine sports disciplines. This broad participation strengthened the integration ties between administrative officials and Knowledge and Learning Managers from the different regional units.
The greatest achievements came from swimming, where the Soacha extension contributed six medals to the consolidated institution. Claudia Johanna Hernández Rodríguez stood out, winning a gold medal in the 100 meters backstroke and a bronze in the 200 meters freestyle, as well as Manuel Mosquera Toncón, who obtained one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze in different events.
Athletics also made a significant impact thanks to Nini Jhoana Aguilar Ardila, from the Zipaquirá campus, who won the 5,000-meter race and earned one of the gold medals for the University. Similarly, in tennis, the duo of Pedro Alexander Suárez Guzmán and Jasbleydy Maribel Chala Castillo, from the Fusagasugá campus, won the silver medal in mixed doubles.
Beyond the sporting results, participation in ASCUN became an opportunity for connection, camaraderie, and strengthening of institutional belonging. During the competition, the delegation members shared experiences that contributed to their physical and mental well-being, promoting healthy lifestyle habits and teamwork.
“These results reflect the commitment, perseverance, and drive to excel of our staff and Knowledge and Learning Managers. Each medal represents the collective effort of a community that believes in sport as a way to strengthen well-being, health, and institutional integration,” highlighted María Margarita Moya González, Director of University Welfare.
The outstanding performance of the University of Cundinamarca in the ASCUN 2026 National University Games for Officials confirms the value of sport as a transformative tool for building community, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening the values that identify the Institution.
