The Municipal Council of Facatativá approved the UCundinamarca pro-development stamp for the Facatativá extension, which results in the strengthening of economic resources for the education of this community and the region in general.
The fifteen honorable council members who were present on August 25 at the Council gave the green light to this draft agreement promoted by Mayor Guillermo Aldana Dimas and which was promoted from UCundinamarca by the rector, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera and the directors.
During the session, it was stipulated that the resources raised will be allocated as follows: 30% for maintenance, expansion and modernization of its physical plant, future expansions and constructions; 30% for the development and modernization of information technology solutions, virtual and communications platforms, digitization and education; 20% for scientific research; 5% for modernization and equipping of laboratories; 5% for modernization and equipping of libraries and for the publishing fund; 5% for the modernization of an archive and documentation center; and 5% for a special program of academic and student scholarships.
For the extension director, Dr. Oswaldo Vanegas, this was a significant achievement, and he extended his gratitude to all those who participated in the process. “First and foremost, I want to thank the mayor, the honorable council members, and the public servants and students who were present today and who supported us in making this a reality. The key point here is that the university will receive funds specifically earmarked for technology, research, and facility improvements, among other things. With this, we will continue building a quality education for our students.”.
Meanwhile, for William Alejandro Osorio, who leads inter-institutional relations and agreements at UCundinamarca, the approval of the agreement represents support from the municipal administration for the education of its communities. “This will allow for continuous improvement in several areas that the extension program requires.”.
For councilman Diego Cabrera, who also holds a degree in Business Administration from UCundinamarca, this was a significant step forward. “It was a process that had been underway for many years, but due to revenue and budget issues, it hadn't been achieved. We hope that with this boost, we will become a host city in the future.”.
Finally, it is worth highlighting that, with this approval of the stamp, Facatativá joins Bojacá and Girardot, municipalities that already have the pro-development stamp for education approved.
It is worth noting that the stamp is a tax that must be paid by people who carry out certain procedures at the municipal mayor's office.
