The Institution continues to consolidate its leadership in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge. The journal Ciencias Agropecuarias, published by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Institution's Editorial Seal, attached to the Research Directorate, was officially included in the Publindex National Bibliographic Index, in the "Recognized" typology, according to the final results of Call 977 of 2026 of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Minciencias).
The result is the fruit of the coordinated work between the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Research Directorate, the UCundinamarca Publishing Seal and the technical-scientific team of the journal, led by the Knowledge and Learning Managers Diego Alexander Hernández Contreras, editor in chief; Rubén Darío González Román, associate editor, and the editorial manager Andrés Eduardo Fernández Osorio.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, John Alexander Moreno, emphasized that this recognition marks a turning point for the University. “This result constitutes a historic milestone for the Institution in its knowledge dissemination processes. It is the first time that a scientific journal from our publishing house has met the measurement criteria required by Minciencias and obtained a recognition category within Publindex,” he stated.
The executive explained that this advance strengthens the journal's position as a space for scientific dissemination in the agricultural, veterinary, biological and environmental areas, with the projection of reaching categories and quartiles of greater international impact in the coming years, through the publication of research developed by authors from the University and allied institutions.
Meanwhile, the Director of University Research, Edgar Eduardo Roa Guerrero, stated that “this recognition from Minciencias demonstrates that the University is making steady progress toward consolidating its position as a leading research institution in the department and the region.” He added that this achievement is part of the institutional strategy to strengthen editorial processes and raise the scientific quality of the University's publications.
For his part, the editor-in-chief, Diego Hernández, emphasized that this recognition certifies compliance with rigorous standards of editorial quality and scientific ethics. “The resolution from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Minciencias) confirms that the journal meets the demanding criteria established for national scientific publications, reinforcing our commitment to the dissemination of specialized knowledge,“ he stated.
Furthermore, he explained that this recognition adds to the journal's recent inclusion in important international bibliographic databases and indexes such as Dimensions, OpenAlex, Lens Scholarly Search, Dialnet, Latindex, MIAR, REBIUN and ROAD, as well as its nomination to DOAJ, BIBLAT and CAB Abstracts, strategies that increase its visibility and global reach.
The importance of this achievement is also reflected in the results of the national competition. 648 participating scientific journals, 142 They achieved the Recognized typology, a group to which Agricultural Sciences is now a part.
Since its creation in 2015, the magazine has published continuously 12 volumes, with two issues per year and a total of 130 scientific articles. During the last year, its portal registered 34.052 Visits and downloads of articles from different countries, demonstrating the growing interest of the scientific community.
Editorial manager Andrés Fernández indicated that these results are a consequence of the editorial strengthening plan implemented between 2024 and 2025, which allowed the consolidation of quality processes, increased visibility and improved the publication's impact indicators.
In turn, associate editor Rubén González invited researchers from UCundinamarca and other institutions to publish their scientific results in one of the ten declared thematic areas and academic disciplines, as well as to consult and cite the articles already published, thus contributing to the growth and positioning of the journal.
The editorial team thanks Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera, Dean John Alexander Moreno, Research Director Edgar Eduardo Roa, Associate Editor Vilma Moreno Melo, Coordinator of Agronomic Engineering Mario César Bernal, and especially the authors, peer reviewers, and national and international members of the editorial committee, for their constant support in the consolidation of the journal over the years.
