“We achieved an execution rate of 80%”: Girardot director

Thus, at the beginning of his presentation, which was part of the Open and Clear Accountability strategy to be held on April 25, he emphasized that not many universities can afford to achieve the institutional quality standards for seven campuses for a period of seven years. “We owe this to our rector, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera, and his team, including Dr. Myriam Lucía Sánchez Gutiérrez, Vice-Rector of Administration and Finance, Dr. Víctor Londoño, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs, and all the deans, coordinators, office heads, and other staff.”.

He then spoke about the resources that were available for the year 2021, where in his own words "a budget execution of 80% was achieved, which corresponds to a value of: $319,323,306.".

Along the same lines, he explained that everything is being prepared so that the Nursing and Environmental Engineering programs "obtain High Quality Accreditation".

That is why, Dr. Méndez commented, “nearly one billion has been invested in the nursing building in terms of furniture and modern equipment, and 1.5 billion is coming for the water block of the environmental engineering program.”.

He also highlighted how the Tourism and Hotel Management program has been adopting the concept of tourism heritage to boost this sector through various initiatives that benefit the environment.

Next, he addressed the topic of sustainability, where the extension program has been a leader. “With your help, we have reached the milestone of planting 10,000 trees under the motto: 'Plant a tree for your children.' Regarding water conservation, all 48% models of our restrooms are water-saving. Similarly, we have installed 114 solar panels that generate monthly savings of 3.6 million pesos. We also produced a brochure on the local flora and fauna, which is on display in the auditorium.”.

Regarding the activities of well-being and human talent, Dr. Méndez stated that: “10,056 people were impacted in areas such as health, culture, sports and comprehensive training, and 892 in training, socializations, campaigns and in the field of emotional intelligence learning respectively.”.

He also noted that in the Occupational Safety and Management System project, 4,620 people benefited from workshops on this topic.

Regarding the issue of laptop loans and SIM card distribution during the pandemic so that students with fewer economic resources could continue their education, he noted that “we were the only university that brought computers to the rural communities, a policy that we still implement today, and among those measures it is worth highlighting that we gave a total of 126 SIM cards. All of this resulted in a class attendance rate of 96.66%.”.

The event was attended by Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz, coordinator of Environmental Engineering, Laurentino Carranza, coordinator of the Business Administration program, Ángela Ricaurte Otavo, spokesperson for the Tourism and Hotel Management Technology program, Sandra Carmona Urueña, coordinator of the Nursing program, Ana Milena Bejarano, representative of the Research Directorate, Dr. Aura Esther Álvarez Lara, dean of the Faculty of Education and director of University Social Interaction (FA), Lina María Celis, coordinator of the University Welfare office of the branch campus, and Edwin Beltrán Rodríguez from the Academic Support Unit, who presented the scope of their respective action plans.

In this way, UCundinamarca, committed to transparency, creates spaces for social control so that students, teachers and administrative staff can interact and ask about the management of public resources, the decisions made and the management carried out by public servants as mandated by the Constitution and the law.
