Argentine guitarist María Eugenia Figueroa talks about what this day will be like.
The guitar is her great companion and ally for exploring, composing, researching, and performing the folklore of her region. María Eugenia Figueroa is a guitar instrumentalist from Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina, and will participate in a presentation and recital at the 5th Conference on Musical Research and Creation at UCundinamarca.
The guitarist spoke in an interview about her participation and the main objective of her presentation – recital, a proposal that undoubtedly fills her with expectation and considers very interesting.

María Eugenia Figueroa (MEF): On this occasion, I will participate with a presentation-recital; it's a hybrid format that allows for a double dialogue. I will perform my music live, which is guitar music, from the folklore of Entre Ríos, the region where I live in Argentina. It's a region bathed in water, and its music is unique.
In addition, I'll also talk about the arrangements I make as a soloist, an opportunity to connect with the audience. I'll be discussing and performing folk music on guitar, which is what I do.
Why do you consider these types of events important?
MEF: I will showcase the music of my region, but the goal is not for students to become interested in creating this type of folklore, but rather to awaken that interest in the music and customs of their regions, and to share these compositions with the world.
The goal is to awaken that curiosity and interest in future Music Teachers, to investigate and create more around folklore.
How did you come to develop that love for performing the folk music of Entre Ríos?
MEF: Before getting here, I explored many genres and other types of composition, and I still listen to other kinds of music today. However, when I discovered the Colectivo and the Orquesta De Costa a Costa, I couldn't believe I wasn't familiar with the music of some of the artists from my region, and from that moment on, I decided to start exploring, composing, and performing as a guitar soloist in this genre. That way, everyone can discover it.
What do you do on a daily basis?
MEF: I am currently a professor of Guitar, Ensemble Music and Folklore at the “Prof. C. Carminio” School of Music and of Didactics of Artistic Education in the training for rural teachers (UADER).
I also dedicate myself to the performance, research, and promotion of music from Entre Ríos. I am a member of the De Costa a Costa Collective and Orchestra and the Rumor Litoral trio. I am also part of the Adá, semilla y canción projects (music, stories, and poetry by female creators from Entre Ríos) and Marcia Müller's trio.

As a solo artist, I have released two albums: Nido (arrangements and original compositions) and Al estilo de Maciel (original music and sheet music). Through various projects, I have also released Gesto, Cauce, De Costa a Costa, and Mujer de Chamamé, among other albums. https://youtu.be/aeHHZErrWKI https://youtu.be/OdjI5NQRcnQ
