Generation 21st Century Magazine: What cultural activities have you developed from the Welfare Office?
Lina María Cháves: Well, last semester we had an artistic talent showcase here at the extension campus, where several municipalities were invited, including Cogua, Cajicá, Chía, Zipaquirá, and even people from Bogotá. The Chía House of Culture and the Cajicá House of Culture Children's Symphony Orchestra participated in the event.
We also had the participation of schools from Chía that showcased their artistic talents. That day, the music program from the Zipaquirá extension also presented its folk music group. Several educational institutions were present, including the José Joaquín Casas School and the Chía Departmental School with its rock band and dance group.
Generation 21st Century Magazine: What other initiatives do you have?
Lina María Cháves: We are currently working on a mental health program. Our goal with this program is to raise awareness among families so that students and teachers understand the support pathways and provide psychological first aid. To that end, we have begun by providing training to teachers on this topic. Regarding physical health, we have been focusing heavily on healthy lifestyle habits such as healthy eating and physical activity. To support this, we have incorporated physical education classes, including dance, Zumba, Zumba, and aerobics, for our school community.
Generation 21st Century Magazine: How has the extension been made known to the educational community of the sector?
Lina María Cháves: We've had the opportunity to present our academic programs in several municipalities, including Sopó, Guasca, Zipaquirá, Chía, and Cajicá. We've also invited schools from these municipalities to learn about our academic offerings and how to apply to the university. Schools from Chía, Cajicá, and Cota, among others, have participated in these visits. They've all had the opportunity to learn about our Transmodern Digital Educational Model. We also use these meetings to conduct a career guidance workshop, helping them explore the programs we offer.
Generation 21st Century Magazine: How can people get in touch with you to visit the university?
Lina María Chávez: Sometimes we invite them, and other times they come to us. Those interested can write to us at the following email address: [email protected] .
