Faced with the increase in the number of events held in the Sabana Norte region, Rosec saw an opportunity to launch a business combining art and talent. Rosec is a group formed by young people from the university's music program, established in 2017. Students María de los Ángeles, violist and manager; and Alejandra Triana, singer; along with graduates Ronald Pinzón, guitarist and musical director; and Cesar Lancheros, percussionist, combined knowledge, passion, art, and talent to create this enterprise.
María de los Ángeles and Ronald decided to found the group after seeing the demand for hiring musical groups in the region. “There are few groups formed like this; normally they hire a singer, and she goes one day with a guitarist and another with a pianist, but most of the time it’s not the same group. So we decided to organize ourselves and offer our services,” the student said.
Rosec has performed at various events such as concerts, receptions, serenades, and Eucharistic celebrations at the regional level, in institutions such as the University of Cundinamarca, Chía and Zipaquirá extensions, the Colombian culture festival organized by the Mayor's Office of Tocancipá, Christmas novenas in 2018 for the Mayor's Office of Zipaquirá, and also at tourist sites such as Jaime Duque Park, La Sabana Golf Club, Parapente El Paraíso, the Diocesan Cathedral of Zipaquirá, and event centers of Minuto de Dios and Shalom.
Rock in English and Spanish, pop, Latin music, church music and Colombian music with a different stamp are the specialty of Rosec, the group of young people who still dream of traveling the world taking their rhythm and style.
In times of pandemic
“The events stopped for a while, so we dedicated ourselves to making videos for our YouTube channel, rehearsing and producing our own music. That was an aspect that, because of the day-to-day, kept getting put off, but the pandemic helped us to make that dream a reality,” explained María de los Ángeles.
The group currently has three original songs: two instrumentals and one with lyrics. These versatile musicians work in two musical formats, combining percussion and songs, allowing them to perform at all kinds of events and occasions.
Virtual serenades and accompanying events aided by technology also became part of the new normal for the group, who during this time did not let the flame of Rosec go out.
The members of the group work as music teachers and carry out other types of activities, but their goal is for this group to continue reaching more places and achieve recognition for their professionalism and training, the one they received at UCundinamarca, but which manages to shine because of that unparalleled talent.
