UCundinamarca participates in the 1st Congress of Aquatic Sports

As part of sports week, the University of Cundinamarca, in partnership with the Andean Area University Foundation, held the First International Congress on Teaching and Training in Aquatic Sports at the Andean Area Foundation facilities between May 22 and 23.

The Congress was organized by the Sports Science and Physical Education program at the University of Cundinamarca, Soacha Extension. Fernando Ardila, the program coordinator, highlighted the event's excellent reception, with around 500 participants, which is evidence of the need to continue developing this type of activity.

According to speaker José Diego Beltrán, a professor of Sports Science at the University of Cundinamarca, there are many gaps in the knowledge of bodies of water (swimming pools, lakes, rivers, among others). “We are interested in developing this topic to engage those interested and build a national educational framework for aquatic knowledge,” he stated.

It is necessary to propose a curriculum framework for aquatic sports schools, implemented in the early grades and for younger children. The first things to consider are the facilities, schedules, training equipment, changes in activities, group management, and budget.;
Contrary to the curriculum for high performance, which takes into account strength, endurance, biomotor skills, age, frequency and appropriate conditions along with the phases and contents of training, adds Professor Beltrán.

It should be noted that the swimming pool protocol establishes in its regulations; cleaning, infrastructure, water, qualified personnel, informative plans, safety elements, maintenance equipment, floors, accessibility, electrical installations, physical chemical analysis and records to comply with the standard, which is not being complied with in Colombia.

Among the topics covered were Curriculum Framework, Evaluation and control of swimming; Psychology applied to aquatic sports and Pool Law; taught by the teachers of the University of Cundinamarca, José Diego Beltrán, Andrés Rodríguez and Elkin Londoño.
