The University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and innovation by obtaining the ranked 10th among public universities in Colombia in the UI GreenMetric, one of the most recognized international rankings in measuring environmental performance and good practices in sustainability in higher education institutions.
This is the first time the University has participated in this measurement, achieving a position of 29th out of the 58 Colombian universities that participated and 533rd out of 1547 universities in total globally.
This result demonstrates the institutional progress in the implementation of policies and actions aimed at sustainability, in accordance with the Transmodern Digital Educational Model – MEDIT, in which the Nature Dimension takes on special relevance, strengthening the integral training of the student from a deep understanding of their relationship with the environment, promoting responsible practices and conscious action towards the planet.
The UI GreenMetric measures institutional environmental performance through criteria such as energy efficiency, water management, waste management, sustainable infrastructure, mobility, and environmental research. This measurement assesses universities' capacity to reduce their environmental impact and promote sustainability in their operations and academic life, allowing for comparisons of progress and demonstrating a genuine commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.
This milestone fills the university community with pride, reaffirming our commitment to responsible development, a strong environmental culture, and the consolidation of a more sustainable, conscious university aligned with global challenges.
