UCundinamarca language center advances

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Science, in conjunction with the Transversal Area of English, announces to the educational community and Cundinamarca the opening of the UCundinamarca Language Center “Learning Languages For Life in the 21st Century” (LanguageS21) in the Chía and Facatativá extensions.

“Our Language Center will be a multilingual academic unit where, based on lived experiences, we will foster dialogue and knowledge sharing and the learning of foreign languages. Today, our first two language labs in Chía and Facatativá are set up and ready to begin when in-person classes resume. Currently, we are developing strategies for their operation and processing the necessary legal documents. I want to emphasize that English will be the primary language of instruction, with plans to add French, German, and Spanish,” explains Francisco Javier Cárdenas Bañol, Coordinator of the English Language Arts Area.

For each foreign language, eight levels were organized, from the most basic A1 to the advanced C1 level. Virtual classrooms are set up on the University's MOODLE platform, from level A1 to B2 and C1. The C1 level is currently being adapted by a group of experts and, once completed, will be part of the courses offered at the Language Center..

The purpose of the Language Center is to foster, promote and encourage multilingualism through the institutional, cultural and transdisciplinary learning fields established in MEDIT, to respond to translocal and transmodern needs as an agent of academic, scientific and formative transformation in the provinces of Cundinamarca where the University has a presence.
