UCundinamarca signed a strategic academic agreement with UNAL

The signing of the framework cooperation agreement between the University of Cundinamarca and the National University will allow for the support and advice of Ucundinamarca Generation XXI, to achieve the institutional accreditation granted by the Ministry of National Education.

The Rector of the University of Cundinamarca, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, signed a framework cooperation agreement with the National University, Bogotá Campus, with the purpose of joining academic efforts that contribute to the promotion, creation and consolidation of effective support in relation to the development of teaching, research and extension activities, in order to promote the institutional strengthening of both entities.

The strategic academic alliance was held at the facilities of the National University, and was presided over by the Governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Rey, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, Rector of the University of Cundinamarca, Professor Diego Hernández, Vice-Rector of the Bogotá Campus of the National University, Alejandra Sánchez, Director of Quality Education Promotion of the Ministry of National Education, Representative to the Chamber, Olga Lucía Velásquez Nieto, Academic Vice-Rector of the University of Cundinamarca Orlando Blanco Zuñiga, the Director of University Research, José Zacarías Mayorga Sánchez, Claudia Acosta, Director of University Extension, deans and directors of the National University.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening and achieving accreditation for the University of Cundinamarca, Generation 21st Century; taking into account that UCundinamarca operates in 7 of the 15 existing provinces of the department. “We joyfully celebrate this academic alliance and the support given to the University of Cundinamarca, because it is a dialogue of knowledge; we must participate in the discussion and generation of knowledge. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the department is contributing 35 billion pesos to the university; in that sense, it is the same proposal that the Governor has included in his government plan as a factor in the development of the Department of Cundinamarca.”, stated the Rector of our Alma Mater, Adriano Barrera Muñoz.

On the other hand, the Governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Rey, highlighted “With this support, we seek to promote alliances that will allow us to transform the social realities of our territory through education. Consolidating this initiative will allow our Alma Mater to strengthen its high-quality accreditation processes.”.

The agreement is part of the national strategy of the Ministry of National Education and the State University System (SUE) to the 32 rectors of the country's public universities, with the purpose of providing support to the management of the 62 Higher Councils of the national education system.

Alejandra Sánchez, Director of Promotion of Quality in Education at the Ministry of National Education, stated: “This agreement is a positive strategy for the department; the country urgently needs these alliances, and to work hand in hand with those who have been able to advance quality education.”.

Thus, for the University of Cundinamarca, this alliance with the National University is of great importance to continue advancing in the process of institutional accreditation, so that UCundinamarca, unique in the Department, is recognized for its quality, as a knowledge institution, democratic, autonomous, educational, and an agent of transmodernity.
