Ubaté will become an entrepreneurial ecosystem

By: Carolina Rojas – Advisory Office of Communications

UCundinamarca News Agency (ANUC) What is the project?

Liliana Margot RodríguezThe project we are working on is called: Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the Villa de San Diego de Ubaté, through the Digital Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Management – CDI of the University of Cundinamarca.

ANUC: What does the project consist of?

Liliana Margot Rodríguez: This is a proposal for development during the first half of 2024, led by University Social Interaction through its project bank. Currently, we have discussed entrepreneurship in various contexts, but we haven't strengthened the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Therefore, we want to strengthen the structure of the Province of Ubaté to address the issue of entrepreneurship.

When we talk about the entrepreneurial ecosystem, we need to bring together mayors, entrepreneurs, business owners, entities like the Chamber of Commerce, and all those that can be involved in strengthening the Province so that the project actually works.

ANUC: Who attended the first Working Group on the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the Province of Ubaté?

Liliana Margot Rodríguez: This event was attended by entrepreneurs, linked to the Chamber of Commerce's Route Five, attendees of ExpoUCundinamarca, and those linked to different in-person commercial showcases sponsored by the University.

Also in attendance were businesspeople who participated in our training and sponsorships, as well as the mayor of the municipality of Ubaté, Richard Bernal, officials from the Economic Development Secretariats of three municipalities and from the Ubaté Chamber of Commerce.

We are working together with the Systems and Computing Engineering program to strengthen the ecosystem.

ANUC: What activities took place during the day?

Liliana Margot Rodríguez: Two main activities were carried out:

  • Training provided by the Systems Engineering program of the University of Cundinamarca and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce on: What is the entrepreneurial ecosystem? What laws govern it? What systems support it? What is its function and purpose?
  • Development of a focus group with key questions to identify the ecosystem, formality and diagram.

ANUC: Are there more activities planned?

Liliana Margot Rodríguez: Yes, this first meeting will produce some reports, and what follows is a meeting with the mayors of the Province and a coordination with all the actors so that we can begin to formulate the ecosystem; our goal is for the ten municipalities to work towards the same objective.

ANUC: How does this project fit in with MEDIT?

Liliana Margot Rodríguez: The Transmodern Digital Educational Model, MEDIT, was the fundamental basis for formulating the proposal because the University of Cundinamarca and the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences have an institutional entrepreneurship route; we have the CDI (Digital Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Management), and within the learning route we have CAIS for entrepreneurship.

All these elements are articulated under MEDIT so that we can strengthen, from the University, the entrepreneurial culture, framed from the digital.
