Tree planting in the El Tibar Agro-environmental Unit

On November 24th, the University Social Interaction (ISU) and Environmental Management System (SGA) departments of the Ubaté branch planted 150 native trees with the help of 37 people, including volunteers, administrative staff, knowledge managers, and external personnel. The main objective of this activity was to establish living fences on some properties belonging to the El Tíbar Agro-environmental Unit.

Professor Guillermo León, from the Systems Engineering program, who participated in the tree planting as a demonstration of environmental commitment, stated: “Today we were at the Tíbar Agro-environmental Unit planting trees around the main plots. It was a truly interesting experience, as we shared it with colleagues from other departments and programs. These kinds of events should be repeated more often because we need to raise awareness about applied environmental stewardship. Thank you to the organizers.”

These types of activities are important for the entire university community to get involved, as it is a commitment that brings many rewards or benefits for the soil, water sources, animals, the environment, and society.

Finally, it is highlighted that on October 22, the knowledge managers of the Systems Engineering program planted 37 succulents in the eco-wall of the Ubaté branch facilities.
