Translocal Forum in Ubaté

By: Alejandro García Suárez – Advisory Office of Communications

On September 11, the Ubaté branch presented the translocal forum, a space where the community and citizens can learn firsthand about the progress in investments, training, research and university welfare of the different regional units.

In an interview with the UCundinamarca News Agency, Dr. Johanna Andrea Gil Palacios, Administrative Director of the Ubaté branch, presented a positive assessment of the academic and administrative management during 2023, highlighting the budget execution of 971,330 pesos. Among the most important achievements, she mentioned the donation of the land for the Agro-environmental Unit and the environmental management certification of both the branch and the El Tibar Agro-environmental Unit.

In the academic sphere, Gil Palacios highlighted the redefinition of the 100% course for the Systems and Computer Engineering and Public Accounting programs, which reinforces the regional unit's commitment to educational excellence. "These advancements reflect our efforts to ensure that all academic programs are aligned with the required quality standards.".

Regarding administrative achievements, she highlighted the implementation of environmental management support devices, such as technological handwashing stations and waterless urinals, which have contributed to reducing water consumption at the headquarters. “We are committed to sustainability, and these changes are proof of that,” the director added.

In addition, Gil Palacios highlighted the students' participation in significant external experiences, such as the Quino Festival 2023, the **Cultural Learning Camp 'Sowing Hope'** during the Ubaté Cultural Week, and in various research seedbed scenarios, which have boosted the visibility of the students and their integration with the community.

This translocal forum not only allowed for accountability, but also reaffirmed the commitment of the University of Cundinamarca to academic, social and environmental development in the Ubaté region.
