Training at the Girardot Simulation Center

During the month of June, at the Girardot branch, specifically in the Nursing program's high-fidelity simulation center, a course was held that trained at least 30 employees of the Girardot Municipal Administration in hemorrhage control, vital sign assessment, and even bandaging techniques. Health is everyone's responsibility!

In this way the activity, which lasted on average about two weeks, was led by the coordinator of the Occupational Health specialization of the extension, Floralba Martínez and by the students of the Section who are in their tenth semester of specialization.

The course was conducted in a hybrid format, meaning that part of it was mediated by technology, with some participants attending via the Meet platform, while others attended in person.

However, for training in some emergency maneuvers such as CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, all participants were present to learn how to apply rhythmic pressure to the chest of someone suffering from cardiac arrest, for example.

“First aid is an essential tool for safeguarding life; we don’t know when, where, or with whom it will be needed. It is vitally important to acquire the necessary knowledge to help a person in an emergency, as this could mean the difference between life and death,” said Coordinator Martínez.

The activity, which was also led by the program's teacher Jorge Rubén Vargas, was carried out for the first time in 2022 and was offered free of charge to the officials of the Municipal Administration, in coordination with its Human Talent, Health and Safety at Work department.

The University of Cundinamarca is committed to positively impacting the communities in the territories where the institution has a presence.
