Cultural Week begins today!

The goal of this event, which will open around 6:00 pm in the main auditorium of the Girardot campus, is to showcase the various artistic expressions that have been developed during the semester. “We have invited several schools from the city to attend and enjoy performances of theater, dance, and music. Among those performing will be the Nilo dance group, the Liceo Moderno School Choir, the Espíritu Santo Marianistas School Music Group, the Universidad Piloto dance and music group, the Shambaku dance group, and our university's dance group and orchestra, among others.”.

The opening will be led by the director, Dr. Miguel Ángel Ávila. Everything will be framed within the concept of translocality, as a way to share with the community what is done behind closed doors, as the rector, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera, has reaffirmed to us in various settings,” commented Lina María Celis Mejía, director of university welfare at the Girardot campus.

Those interested can also attend a theater performance on Wednesday. “Tomorrow, different groups from municipalities in the department, specifically from the Sumapaz, Alto Magdalena, and Bogotá regions, will participate. At 3:00 pm, the Marianistas School will perform in the university auditorium. At 3:40 pm, the group from Tocaima will perform.”.

At 4:10 pm, the SENA group from Girardot. At 4:40 pm, Crear Escena from Sopó. At 5:10 pm, the group from Mosquera. At 6:00 pm, Respirarte Soacha Circo, which will be held outdoors. At 6:45 pm, the group from UCundinamarca, and finally, at 7:45 pm, the open-air performance by CASTeatro. It's worthwhile for people to come and relax a bit and learn something at the same time.”.

On Thursday, the program will continue with a band concert. “We will have festive and symphonic bands from the department and the capital city, performing a very varied repertoire for the enjoyment of the attendees.”.

Friday will be Sweet Day. “It’s for the children of the administrative staff, teachers, and students of the branch, who will enjoy recreational activities from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. When we’ve held this event before, some children come in costume, and their parents do too. It’s really lovely.”.

With this type of artistic exhibition, UCundinamarca reaffirms its mission to be a democratic, autonomous, educational, and transmodern social organization of knowledge for the benefit of society in general.
