With technological advancements and the rise of social media, according to data from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, only 251% of companies use social media to make sales, which indicates that there is potential to develop training for companies on these topics, a fact that is also confirmed by the participants of the Digital Marketing course taught by the University of Cundinamarca to entrepreneurs in the region.
On June 5th, the Business Administration program at the Ubaté campus held the closing ceremony for its Digital Marketing Course, part of the University Social Interaction (ISU) projects. This two-month program provided a forum for sharing experiences, knowledge, and lessons learned about the use and management of social media, specifically as applied to entrepreneurship.
For Felipe Sánchez García, Knowledge and Learning Manager of the Business Administration program, these types of projects are important because “there is a lot of potential in the region, however, these capabilities must be polished; it is like emeralds, the more they are polished, the more beautiful and effective they are.”.
From the province of Ubaté, 35 entrepreneurs registered, of which 30 completed the entire process and, after attending all the face-to-face sessions for two months, were certified.
“This is a very interesting tool from the university. Many entrepreneurs in the region learned and gained knowledge on topics related to the new trends in technology and social media, applied to businesses. I hope that the University of Cundinamarca continues to offer these opportunities where we can receive free training,” said Carlos Andrés Morales, councilman for the municipality of Ubaté and participant in the Digital Marketing course.
For María Fernanda Jaramillo, a resident of the municipality of Simijaca, being part of this project was satisfying because “I have always liked and focused on commerce, on the subject of sales, so I wanted to expand my knowledge. Here I acquired many lessons in the management of social networks, and I also had the opportunity to share experiences and learn about the offerings of the region.”.
