This is how the planting day went at the Soacha Extension

On November 19th, the activity “Poem that the earth writes in the sky” was carried out, led by the Cultural Learning Field (CAC) Suachuna Identity, in conjunction with the Environmental Management System (SGA), which had as its main objective to make a contribution to the municipality and the Institution through the planting of endemic trees of the region, managing to interact with students, teachers and administrative staff, to understand the importance of these, their care and their identity with the territory.

These activities allow the university community to feel connected to the region. We also took advantage of this event to commemorate Clean Air Day, reaffirming our environmental and social commitment,” said Dr. Fabio Julio Gil, administrative director of the Soacha extension.

On this day, 73 trees were planted in the different green spaces of the University, which are expected to strengthen in a very short time and generate a space ready for the learning and growth of the community.

For her part, Yolanda Cárdenas, manager of the CAC Identidad Soachuna, stated that an additional interaction was achieved; each tree planted had a purpose imposed by the person who planted it, among the most prominent being for life, for health, for future generations, for those who are no longer with us, and for the university community.

The planting involved sixty-four people, including administrative staff, teachers, students, program coordinators, and volunteers from the municipality. After an explanation of the planting and care procedures by an agronomy professional, the activity began.

“Chicalas was the species assigned for this extension, as it is native to the area. These plants help to restore the soil, strengthening its characteristics and allowing the development of ecosystems within this space,” concluded engineer Karin Mesa, manager for Soacha of the SGA.

In this way, the Soacha extension sends a message of unity and care for the environment, thereby reaffirming its commitment to working towards a green university.
