In his speech, the high-ranking official answered each of the questions posed by the council members regarding this project, which will generate development for the entire province of Sabana Centro in the area of music education, among other options.
In his presentation, he reaffirmed that the university's mission is to transform opportunities and life projects for the young people of the department.
Later, when a council member asked about the number of phases in this initiative, Dr. Trujillo commented that “there are three in total. One stage involves infrastructure, which you saw today and which we are finishing; another consists of adapting the stages and furnishing them; and a third phase refers to the construction of a second tower, which is currently awaiting a permit from the municipal planning unit.”.
When questioned by another council member about the opening of this important project, he stated that, "it is expected that the student community will be received in the first semester of 2024 if there are no problems.".
He then responded regarding the future of the old headquarters, stating that under ordinance 45 of 2001, the property was received from the government and that the idea is to convert it, with the help of the Postgraduate Institute, into an area where postgraduate studies, specializations, and, in the future, doctorates with transversal relevance are offered.
He also indicated that, in addition to the Music program, the new facilities are planned to offer other educational programs. “We want to offer Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English, which are the result of technical analyses conducted by the university taking into account the needs of the region. In that regard, we already have the necessary documentation to submit to the Ministry of National Education and the National Accreditation Council. Now we just need to finalize the equipment and facilities so we can proceed with the process before these authorities.”.
Regarding the investment made, Dr. Trujillo commented that it amounts to 20 billion pesos, with an additional 7 billion pesos already allocated. “With these resources, we hope to complete the first and second phases of the project for the benefit of the entire Zipaquirá community. We believe the third phase will cost approximately another 20 billion pesos.”.
Regarding scheduling a new visit, once the work is completed with its equipment, he indicated that it can be done without any problem and that on that day, there will be a musical presentation by some of the students.
During the political oversight session, Dr. Claudia Urazán Penagos, Director of Self-Evaluation and Accreditation, Dr. Myriam Lucía Sánchez Gutiérrez, Vice-Rector of Administration and Finance, and the Director of Goods and Services, engineer Ricardo Jiménez, were present. Prior to the debate, they toured the facilities of the new headquarters with the honorable council members of the municipality, accompanied by the director, Dr. Carlos Trujillo.
In this way, UCundinamarca reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education through its Transmodern Digital Educational Model, responding to the needs of the department's communities.
