“I really enjoyed this event because the speakers managed to touch people's hearts. In the case of Francisco Cajiao, I felt that his presentation resonated deeply because he transcended the human experience through the educational process, emphasizing the importance of education for life. Similarly, engineer Wilson's project was very inspiring, showcasing his work with children and technology in a rural area,” said Alisson Gutiérrez, a nursing student.
“This event was of a very high standard. I particularly enjoyed Professor Wilson’s presentation because he managed to create and recreate the country through the project of implementing networks with children in rural areas, demonstrating his love for what it means to be a teacher,” stated Irma Calderón, Dean of the Faculty of Education.
Of the 10 speakers, some are part of the university community and others were international guests. These presentations were the result of a selection process involving 120 applicants.
The talks were based on the speakers' own experiences in their fields of study, research, or work. Their messages aimed to convey positive and inspiring ideas from four specific areas of action: Education, Technology, Society, and Environmental Sustainability.
Since the TED format required a maximum of 100 attendees, only that number were present, and an additional 244 people tuned in via YouTube. Topics covered included the inclusion of children with hearing impairments, the development of technology for rural areas, overcoming fears and leaving the past behind to embark on the adventure of traveling and experiencing other cultures, food security, and the transformation of education for life, among others.
The participation of the children stands out, who urged adults to generate a culture of peace and thus transmit it to new generations as an important alternative to build the country.
Some of the attendees agreed that these types of events are important for transforming community culture, education outside the classroom, and the way the world is perceived.
Undoubtedly, TEDx UCundinamarca was aimed at strengthening the strategic front of the rector's plan to dialogue with the world and exchange knowledge, as well as education for life, whose call is to leave the classroom with content capable of transforming society and the professionals of UCundinamarca.
