Talent Festival awarded winners

On October 27, the awards ceremony for the Soacha Talent Festival was held, organized by Dr. Fabio Julio Gil Sanabria, administrative director of the Soacha extension through the Cultural Learning Field (CAC) Soacha Identity, led by manager Yolanda Giraldo Cárdenas, with the support of the University Welfare area.

“We invited the entire community to register and participate in this festival, which aimed to promote the memory of Soachuna's identity. We had a great response from the university community,” said Dr. Fabio Julio Gil Sanabria.

After receiving applications from talented young people at the Soacha Extension, they were asked to submit evidence of their talent. Between October 18th and 22nd, videos were received showcasing dance, crochet, amigurumi, drawing, 3D origami keychains, circus skills, and other activities.

“Through artistic displays we can express our emotions, transmit our thoughts and communicate with others, for this reason we must encourage the entire community to discover their talents and experience them,” explained Yolanda Giraldo Cárdenas, manager of the CAC Identidad Soachuna.

The winners

With 266 votes, the winner was Blanca Amaly Peña Franco, who created a creative 3D origami keychain. “Aspects such as creativity, technique, mastery, and identity were evaluated, and she was selected by the public in a live vote.”.

However, the administrators also decided to name Miguel Páez as the winner, who created a drawing that demonstrated his talent. “The pointillism technique was evident, along with an explanation of it that highlighted the origins of the municipality and its Muisca ancestors.”.

These types of activities are promoted by the outreach program to strengthen the university community's sense of belonging to its roots. They also aim to raise awareness about their surroundings and the environment.

“From the Soachuna Identity Cultural Learning Field, we invite the entire community to learn about, value and highlight their origins, values and beliefs, allowing these customs and knowledge to remain alive among the generations and promoting the culture that belongs to us.”.
